Oregon City Church of the Nazarene has a variety of Christian Education opportunities designed with you in mind. We have options for the new and curious or those who have been walking with the Lord for years; those preferring large classes or small groups; and those wanting to delve into Biblical topics or relational interests. Regardless of where you find yourself in life our goal is to provide you with the resources, support, and encouragement you’ll need to grow in your relationship with God and others. The mission of Sunday School is to carry out the Great Commission to children, youth, and adults in preparation for a lifetime of Christian holiness.
Sunday School hour is from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  You can find a pamphlet listing classes, locations and current topics of study at one of the welcome stations. One of our friendly greeters can also assist you in finding a class. We have a variety of Small Groups and Recovery Groups throughout the year such as: Financial Peace University and Celebrate Recovery. Watch the bulletins for times and locations. Bible Study groups are held throughout the year for men and women.

                       Children’s Pastor: Rev. Diane Reinertsen
Children’s Mission Statement:
This is how we LOVE the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. (1 John 5:1)
Come, my children, listen as I TEACH you to respect the Lord.  (Psalm 34:11)
GUIDE me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.  (Psalm 25:5)
May the God of peace, EQUIP you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ.  (Hebrews 13:20-21)
Our goal is to:  Love, Teach, Guide and Equip Your Children to be Disciples for CHRIST!
Children’s Programs:
Nursery: Child care is available on Sunday mornings.   We carefully screen our nursery workers before entrusting them to work in our nursery.  All volunteers have been through an extensive training program entitled “Child & Youth Protection Manual” as well as national background checks. We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for your little ones.
Sunday School:  A time to dig deeper into God’s Word.  Classes are available for children 2 years through 6th grade.  Bible based, age appropriate classes that allow children to learn about God in ways that make sense to them. We carefully screen our teachers before entrusting them to work with children. Every volunteer in our children’s ministry has been through an extensive training program entitled “Child & Youth Protection Manual” as well as national background checks.
Children’s Church: “The Believers Club” has been moved to Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m.   This is a time for children ages 4 years to 6th grade to learn about God while their parents attend the evening service.  Children’s Church is a worship time, in a church like setting, with prayer groups, music, games and a message with activities.
Vacation Bible School (VBS) (5 years through 6th grade):  Bring your friends and join us for a full week of summer outreach to children in the community with songs, bible stories, drama, prizes, crafts and games.   From music to snacks and everything in between, each part of VBS is designed to focus on the things that matter … connecting kids to God!
Summer Kids’ Camps (2nd – 6th grades):  Camp is a place where children are given the chance to make a commitment to follow Jesus, respond to His call into ministry, and to grow in the Christian Faith in a camp setting. For camp dates and registration fees, contact Rev. Diane Reinertsen.
Quizzing (1st – 6th grades):  Children’s Quizzing is a Bible study for children in grades 1-6. It is important to help children know what the Bible says and help them demonstrate biblical teachings in actual life situations.
Christmas Musical:  In the fall, children begin preparing a Christmas program which will be presented during the holiday season.
Kid’s Missions (1st-6th grade):  This event includes reading exciting mission stories, attending JJ Jump, eating pizza, and playing games.
Wild & Wacky Wednesdays:  During the months of July and August all kids are welcome to participate in our “Wild & Wacky” Summer Educational programs on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the gym.  Each week is a new adventure where kids learn about such things as: the Solar System, Crime Lab and Animals that Defy Evolution.  We watch YouTube videos, listen to special speakers, do hands-on activities, have group Bible competitions, and have “wild & wacky” snacks that fit the theme for the night.

Adult Ministries

Adults apply Biblical truths and encouragement to live a Holy Life.
A variety of Sunday School classes are available each Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. and then the morning worship starts at 10:45 a.m.  Adults meet every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary for prayer and in-depth Bible Study. Corporate Prayer Opportunities include mid-week prayer (Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m.) and Prayer & Fasting every Friday at Noon. We stress the importance of applying Biblical truths in our day-to-day lives and the need for Christian fellowship and encouragement to live a Holy Life
“Young at Heart” meets on the 2nd Friday of every month at Noon.  Every month is a new new menu or “Brown Bag” lunch so watch for monthly information in the bulletin or on the website under “Events”. Take this opportunity to socialize with new and old friends, sing songs and learn how we can support, help and pray for one another.
